NOKOA The Observer, a progressive weekly newspaper serving Austin since 1987, has endorsed native Austinite Chris Riley for Place 1. The first newspaper to weigh in on the race backed Riley due to his experience, record of results, and ideas to benefit the East Austin community.

Describing Riley as “the best candidate for the job,” NOKOA publisher Akwasi Evans stated, “overall, he is the best person to be balanced and fair to all citizens. He will be impartial in considering issues and agendas that we bring before Council.” Riley’s plans for job creation in Austin—including a summertime technology “boot camp” for East Austin teens—were well-received by Evans as a positive step forward for the community.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of NOKOA,” stated Riley. “I look forward to working with leaders such as Akwasi Evans to find creative solutions to the problems facing our Austin communities.”
