Austin American-Statesman Endorses Chris Riley For Place 1

In an editorial published in the April 19, 2009 edition of the Austin American-Statesman, the paper endorses Chris Riley for Place 1 in the upcoming municipal elections. They write,

“Riley has more experience and we believe is ready for the City Council.”

Riley served as Chair of the Planning Commission, and was a member for six years. He also chaired the Downtown Commission, and served on it for eight years. He has served on the City’s Street Smarts Task Force, Water Conservation Task Force, and Community Land Trust Committee. He started a neighborhood association, and co-founded the Austin CarShare program. He also helped create the Alliance for Public Transportation, to engage Austinites in seeking transit solutions. Riley has also served on the boards of the Austin Parks Foundation and Austin History Center Association.

“I’m honored to be the Statesman’s choice for Place 1 on the merits of my extensive service to the people of Austin,” stated Riley. “As a member of our City Council, I will work even harder to make sure our city rises up to the expectations of its people.”

Austinites can meet Riley at one of his upcoming twelve campaign events in the next two weeks.
