The Circle C Area Democrats announced their endorsement today of Chris Riley for Austin City Council Place 1, adding to the many diverse groups that are supporting Riley’s campaign. Club President Ed Scruggs said that members found Riley to have an excellent command of the issues impacting southwest Austin. “We believe he will be an informed, thoughtful, and innovative council member,” stated Scruggs.

Riley spoke at the club’s February meeting, impressing members with his specific transportation proposals for the Austin community, such as a reversible HOV lane to handle rush hour traffic, and additional express commuter buses. Circle C area residents were particularly receptive to his message of increasing transportation options, especially in suburban neighborhoods.

“I will be a constant visitor to our southwest Austin neighborhoods during my time on Council,” stated Riley. “Whether by Austin CarShare, bicycle, carpool, or commuter bus, I will prioritize staying in close contact with the folks who are on the front lines of Austin’s economic, environmental, and transportation challenges.”
