Riley Endorsed by Austin Police and EMS Associations
The Austin Police Association and Austin/Travis County EMS Employee Association today announced their endorsements of Chris Riley, candidate for Austin City Council Place 1.
“I am deeply honored to receive these endorsements,” said Riley. “Public safety must be the top priority of any city, and I am gratified that the Austin Police and EMS associations believe I am the strongest candidate to help them perform this critical task.”
Austin Police Detective Chris Perkins, Secretary of the Austin Police Association, praised Riley’s clear commitment to our city’s first responders. “Chris greatly impressed the members of our association with his depth of knowledge about the challenges that Austin police face every day to help keep our city safe,” said Perkins. “The Austin Police Association is very proud to give its endorsement and full support to Chris Riley.”
Steve Stewart, President of ATCEMSEA, said Riley likewise displayed a thorough understanding of EMS issues. “Chris not only impressed us with his knowledge of public safety challenges, but his extensive history of service to the community also helped make our choice clear,” said Stewart. “I’m confident he will be a superb City Council member.”
Riley said he had been on extensive “ride-alongs” with police, firefighters and paramedics in recent months. “Spending several days with our first-responders on the front lines taught me a tremendous amount about the hard work that goes into keeping Austin safe,” said Riley. “As a member of the Austin City Council, I will carry what I’ve learned over the last few months with me, and never play politics with public safety.”
